BEGINNER MISTAKE TO AVOID WHEN BUYING A TRACTOR

July 24, 2019 by Aust 9 Comments

Tractor Mike, of the Ask Tractor Mike Channel on Youtube knows people make this mistake when buying a tractor.

For years he worked in the tractor industry.

Time and time again he saw people buy land, and at the very same time, they would buy their tractor.

DON’T DO THAT!

Tractor mike suggests that when you purchase land, you start thinking about your tractor purchase, but don’t go out and buy your tractor right away.

Tractor Mike suggests “Get out there and see what your needs are. Maintain the acreage a little big. See what you need.”

Once you have a good idea what you need to do and want to do on your property, your local dealer will have a better idea of what you need for your property.

So how big of a tractor should you get?

First, remember Mike says

“You will NEVER in your lifetime say I wish I had bought a smaller tractor!”

So buy the biggest tractor you can afford. Mike suggests that you start looking at tractors that are at least 40 HP, and go up from there.

This video is an excerpt from an interview I did with Tractor Mike.

Thanks for explaining that we should see what our needs are before buying a tractor. My husband and I want to get some used agricultural machinery for our farm. Following your tips should help us make good decisions as we shop.

That’s really helpful to know that you should buy the biggest tractor you can afford. I’ll have to look for different deals I can use to get one as well. I just bought some land and need some equipment to work it.

I never knew that I should buy a tractor that is at least 40 HP if I’m going to live on a farm. If I were to choose, I’ll buy some more farm equipment for sale to get my private farm in order. My dream is to become a farmer, and if this will help me get started, then it’s good advice that I’ll be willing to take.

That’s good to know that you shouldn’t buy a tractor right when you buy land. My friend just bought a farm property. She’s trying to decide on what type of tractor to buy, so I’ll make sure she knows this!

My husband and I recently bought a ranch, and of course, we’ll be needing at least two tractors for farming jobs. I’m glad you were able to share this; we’ll make sure to check tractors that are 40 HP. I wonder where could we possibly find a supplier that offers various types of tractor equipment.

You made a good point that meticulousness is important when planning to buy a tractor. I’m interested in looking for a place that sells tractor parts because I’m interested in knowing the kinds of attachments that I’m going to need in the future. That way, I would be able to budget properly.
